WIPocalypse 2015 - March Edition

It's time for this month's WIPocalypse report! Is it just me, or is 2015 going by really fast? I think I feel that way for a lot of reasons, but stitching on something new every day seems to fuel that even more, especially when I look at my progress!

This month, Measi is asking us the following question:

If money - and time - were not limiters, what projects would be on your stitching bucket list?

This is a tough one! I have a ton of patterns and projects in my stash that I already own and an alarming wish list of projects to buy someday. Everything from HAED's and Tilton Crafts, to Joan Elliott and Mirabilia, to Châtelaine and Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery, to Wee Little Stitches and Cloudsfactory, and everything in between. I think I'd just stitch everything I could, whatever struck my fancy, and my stash would be enormous and filled with fabric and beads and threads and more...I get happy just thinking about it. Heh.

Here are the nitty gritty details for my WIPocalypse Report for March 2015!

Mediterranean Flavors

Yesterday I got back into my normal rotation and picked up Mediterranean Flavors

I was not able to get as much done as I wanted to because of a very needy four year old who couldn't fall asleep and then my own exhaustion taking over when he finally did, but I did make some progress!

Sorry for the shadow at the bottom of the picture! I really do like the pink of the grapes I was able to work on yesterday. It's such a lovely color!

Tomorrow is the WIPocalypse report for the month, and I have one more piece to work on tonight and I will have touched all of my WIP's! Yay! We're also scheduled to have thundersleet and thundersnow (yes, thunder should be before both of those words) this afternoon/evening. I've hit the grocery store so we are stocked but I'm predicting the kids and hubby will be home tomorrow! We'll see what happens!

Until next time!

Walking Through the Stars Zodiac Sampler - Pisces Complete!

I finished up Pisces last night!

Because I get asked frequently, the fabric is 32 count Belfast in Black Magic from Under The Sea Fabrics with the flosses and silks from Mo's Sale. I absolutely love this sampler and am sad to put it away for another month!

As with the past months, there was interesting Pisces information included with this month's installment.

Pisces – February 19 – March 20  Pisces called Ichtyes ("the fishes") by the Greeks, "Pisces" being the Latin translation.

Pisces is caring and forgiving, awash in feelings, impressions and moods. They're a sign of complexity, but one strong inclination is toward retreat. This enables Pisces to be with the waves, and calm the inner waters (the psyche). Some are healers, artists, performers, musicians, or work in relief fields for people or animals.

At the extreme edges, Pisces is the lost child, easily victimized, and unable to establish boundaries of Self.

Pisces thrives when their multi-dimensionality is expressed through work and relationships. Their dreamlife is as real as their day in the topside world. They become empowered when they find enough solitude, and draw on their strong mystical connections.

Constellation: Pisces
Element: Water
Ruling Planet: Neptune and Jupiter
Stone: Aquamarine
Metal: Platinum
Phrase: “I believe”
Colors: sea-green, moss green, pearly, pure pink of the conch shell, sky blue and ocean green
Animals: creatures of the sea, including dolphins, whales. Watery amphibians like frogs, salamanders. Exotic fish like clown, silver dollar, angelfish, butterfly fish, batfish. Water birds like flamingoes, cranes, storks, pelicans.
Birth Flowers: Water lilies.
Additional Pisces flowers include: Moss, Poppies, Rhubarb, Yarrow, Clematis, Lilac, Orchids

I love learning about each of the signs. It's really interesting!

Until next time!

Walking Through The Stars Zodiac Sampler - Pisces Day One

Yesterday, the March portion of the Walking Through The Stars Zodiac Sampler, which is Pisces! I tackled the frames first, and had a lot of frogging to do because I kept miscounting. I do love the adorable little octopus on the largest frame, though!

After taking a nap, I started working on filling in the frames. And dealt with more frogging. Seriously, the frog needs to find another lilypad! I was able to complete this much yesterday before calling it quits for the night:

I will finish this up today and I'll leave all the interesting Pisces information that came along with the sampler until then!

Until next time!

Magical Creatures and Sherlock Holmes

Yesterday was the perfect day for stitching. I didn't have anywhere I had to go, nothing I absolutely had to do, so I enjoyed a lazy day of stitching! I worked on two pieces yesterday.

First, I had a new start, which should be my last new start of the year (for now anyway) - Magical Creatures Calendar from Cloudsfactory!

I'm doing the same thing with this piece that I did with my Zodiac sampler and switched out all the DMC for flosses from Mo's Sale, and the Weekly Dye Works threads I substituted for some of Mo's silks. Here is what I completed yesterday:

I'm stitching this on 32 count opal belfast in Diva from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie, and I'm doing the frames in Ramona silk from Mo's Sale. I was originally going to use another color silk, but it got lost in the fabric. I love the way the Ramona looks up close, and the sparkle of this is just wonderful! My plan is to work on all the frames first and then once they are done, I'll start filling in the months. I was both cursing this piece and reluctant to put it away all at once. Cursing because I had to frog the furthest left hand border not once, not twice, but THREE times because I screwed up on the counting along the bottom turning into the corner. And reluctant because I just love the colors on this and I'm so excited to see it grow. It'll come back soon enough!

Yesterday was also the day that the March portion of the Story Time Sampler came out, which was indeed Sherlock Holmes! I couldn't resist and ended up completing this frame last night. It's so adorable!

And here is the entire piece so far:

I love how this piece is turning out so far. It's great that the frames don't take all that long to complete, but it is kind of sad that I now have to wait until March 31st before I can pick it up again! Oh well, I have lots of projects to keep me busy until then!

Until next time!
