Mediterranean Flavors

Yesterday I worked on Mediterranean Flavors from Dimensions.

I primarily focused on backstitching tonight, which is not my favorite thing to do. I love the way it makes a piece pop, don't get me wrong, but it's not my favorite part of the stitching process. I wanted to get the right half of the piece backstitched, though, before I move on to finish the left. Backstitch is more bearable when done in phases!

All of those grapes, though, are definitely a pain to backstitch! Ha!

Mediterranean Flavors

You know, Mediterranean is one of those words that never looks right to me when I type it. Oh well! Didn't stop me from working on Mediterranean Flavors yesterday!

The grapes are my favorite part of this piece so far. I love the colors of them! Such pretty pinks and purples!

Mediterranean Flavors

Yesterday I got back into my normal rotation and picked up Mediterranean Flavors

I was not able to get as much done as I wanted to because of a very needy four year old who couldn't fall asleep and then my own exhaustion taking over when he finally did, but I did make some progress!

Sorry for the shadow at the bottom of the picture! I really do like the pink of the grapes I was able to work on yesterday. It's such a lovely color!

Tomorrow is the WIPocalypse report for the month, and I have one more piece to work on tonight and I will have touched all of my WIP's! Yay! We're also scheduled to have thundersleet and thundersnow (yes, thunder should be before both of those words) this afternoon/evening. I've hit the grocery store so we are stocked but I'm predicting the kids and hubby will be home tomorrow! We'll see what happens!

Mediterranean Flavors

Another day, another Italian/Mediterranean themed Dimensions kit! Not that I'm remotely complaining, mind you. I love each and every one.

Yesterday I worked on Mediterranean Flavors. This is another nice, small piece to work on amid my larger pieces, and it stitches up very quickly. Here is my progress as of last night:

One thing I like about this piece is that it really does utilize the fabric color for the design. The garlic, for example, only has a few actual stitches. The rest of the detail will come out with the backstitching and totally incorporates the beige fabric.

One more day until the Wipocalypse report! I definitely will have a lot to report!

End of Rotation Week and Theme-a-licious

Sorry I've been a bad blogger the last few days - seasonal allergies are in full swing and I've been dealing with those most evenings, so even though I've been doing some stitching, I haven't felt up to posting before bed, so I have some catching up to do!

First, yesterday was the end of my rotation week on Mediterranean Flavors! Here was my progress from Thursday night:

I didn't stitch at all on Friday after Girl Scouts because I was too tired, but I did work on this piece yesterday to round out the week!

Thursday was also the due date for the Theme-a-licious report for February, so I'm a few days late. February's theme was:

Who are the people in your neighborhood...your WIP neighborhood, that is? Give your people-populated projects some face time this month.

And as we saw during my mid-month report, I am definitely bending the rules to this one this month! Since my mid report, I've worked on Mediterranean Flavors, which will all be consumed by people, as well as European Bistro, which will be inhabited by people, and I bought a piece with people in it, so that counts, right?

March's theme I will be able to do much more appropriately, I think!

March Madness

Work on something different every day...it's madness...of the funnest possible kind.

This is a perfect day to start this rotation - I loved working on a different piece the first 15 days of January when I started the CJC, and with all of those pieces on my sidebar in my WIP pile, I have plenty to do! So let's see how this month goes!

Framing The Flavors

I got a bit more work done on Mediterranean Flavors today, including turning the bottom right corner of the red frame outline in the picture to help start establishing the boundaries of the piece!

Sorry for the wrinkles! I had to move my hoop frame today (small frame for a small piece), and I do not iron pieces until they're completely finished, as I absolutely detest ironing and will only do it once for a piece!

More Progress

Mediterranean Flavors is stitching up pretty quickly!

I'm really enjoying this piece. I like the theme, the colors, and it's relatively simple in comparison to a lot of the charts I do. It's definitely been a nice change!

WIPocalypse - February Edition

 
It's already time for another WIPocalypse report! Where has February gone?? The theme for this month is:

February 25 – Themes: Designer – Little House Needleworks, Style – Love/Family, Colors – White and Red

Well, designer wise, I don't have any Little House Needleworks patterns in the works. In fact, I didn't have any Little House Needleworks patterns in my collection, but I've rectified that! I have now added the following two LHN patterns to my collection:

LHN isn't my typical style for stitching, but I really like both of these patterns and I now have them in my collection - that's the point of WIPocalypse, right? Not to finish pieces, but to add to stash? Right?? RIGHT?!?!

Ahem, the other themes were Style – Love/Family and Colors – White and Red. My two WIPocalypse pieces for this month were My Witch's Brew and European Bistro.

This piece has the word LOVE in it, so I'm counting it for the monthly theme!

I worked on the white outline of the rest of the window this month as well as some other white pieces...

I count these for sure!

Now, onto this week's stitching. I was able to get some stitches in both yesterday and today on Mediterranean Flavors:

Today's picture doesn't show the garlic portion as clearly as the one from yesterday, but the green oil jar in the middle is done except for backstitching, which won't happen for awhile yet. This piece is going relatively quickly - let's see how much progress I can make this week!

So much for getting a lot done this week on European Bistro...at least I made some progress.

I think I only stitched three days this week. I hope this week is better. Progress is progress, though, and that's what counts in the end!

This week is another CJC rotation week.This week, I'm working on Mediterranean Flavors by Dimensions. This is one of the smaller pieces in my CJC rotation, so maybe if I can actually stitch this week, I can make some good progress on it! Here is where we're starting from:

Crazy January Challenge - Mediterranean Flavors

Today I started one of my two small kits from Dimensions, and the first of four kits I have in this challenge in total - Mediterranean Flavors!

I already have plans on where I want to put this when it's done! I was slow stitching tonight as I was somewhat tired, but I know when this comes up in one of my CJC rotation weeks, it shouldn't take long to make tons of good progress on this piece. It's one of the ones I definitely think I can finish in 2013!
