WIPocalypse 2015 - July Edition Part Two

As I mentioned in my last WIPocalypse post, we get two full moons in July this year, so we get two WIPocalypse reports as well! Yay!

For the second report in July, Measi asked us the following question:

What makes you pick up a long-abandoned UFO rather than beginning a new piece?

Let's be honest here - anyone who follows this blog knows I'm a serial starter. I wouldn't have as many WIPs as I do if I wasn't. That being said, I find that having my daily rotation helps make it so that no project falls completely by the wayside. It may take me longer to finish a project, but I know I'll get back to it eventually in the rotation, even if I start other new projects along the way! I don't believe there is such a thing as too many WIPs. There just aren't enough hours in the day to do all the stitching I want to do!

Here are the nitty gritty details for my second WIPocalypse Report for July 2015

Total Number of Pieces for WIPocalypse for 2015: 63
Number of Pieces Completed This Month: 2
Total Number of Pieces Completed This Year: 6
Number of Pieces Worked on This Month: 29

And now, here come the pictures! Because of the sheer volume of WIP's I've got going now, I'm only going to show the pictures of the pieces I actually worked on this month.

Vacation!

Hey everyone,

Just a quick post. I'm getting ready to go on vacation and even though I'm stitching, blogging will have to wait until I come back! I will have a WIPocalypse post on time since I have that scheduled, but other posts will have to wait until I come back! I'll see you all soon!

Until next time!

Skater's Village Tree Skirt

Yesterday Skater's Village Tree Skirt from Dimensions Gold Collection came up as part of my regular rotation.

After working on this piece for an hour a day for a week for Whine and WIP's, I was constantly waiting for my hour timer to go off on my phone! Ha! It was nice, though, to get to work on it even longer than an hour! Here is where I stopped yesterday:

Now this piece is definitely going to take a break before it comes up again, but it was a real joy to stitch on it again! I think Whine and WIP's did it's thing, I no longer feel compelled to whine about this piece anymore!

Until next time!

Santa

Yesterday I spent some time working on Santa by Jim Shore for Mill Hill.

I didn't get to work on it for very long, but I did make some progress.

The dark navy fabric makes taking a picture difficult, but my five year old son could easily identify who this was, so I consider that a success!

Until next time!

Rose Fairy

Yesterday I spent some time working on Rose Fairy by Joan Elliott.

I just love the pinks and purples in this piece, they make me smile! Here is where I stopped yesterday:

Funny as it may sound, it was a joy to work with a Kreinik other than the 032, which I used exclusively on Angel of Compassion earlier this month and is prevalent in many of my other pieces. Can't wait until she comes back up in the rotation again!

Until next time!

Robin Hood

Robin Hood is a fantastic story that I have always enjoyed and I just had to do this piece from Little House Needleworks.

Little House Needleworks is not typically my style, but I just love this piece! Here is where I stopped yesterday:

When I started working on this piece this time around, I only had Sherwood completed, so I'm very pleased with the progress! I'm stitching this on 32 Lugana in Sand from Picture This Plus, which I'm really liking for that old world parchment type feel!

Until next time!

Rapunzel

Yesterday I got to work on one of my absolute favorite pieces in my rotation, Rapunzel by Joan Elliott.

She's just so beautiful and it's a pure pleasure to work on every stitch for this piece! Here is where I am at this point:

I'm stitching her on 28 Jobelan in Isolde from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie and I just love her! Can't wait to work on her again!

Until next time!

Rainbow Parfait and SAL Updates

For the last week, I've been working on two SAL's for groups I'm in on Facebook. The first was a SAL for the Disney Dreams Collection group, where we're just working on one of our pieces for the rest of July. I chose to work on The Little Mermaid.

This is where I started the SAL on July 15th:

I worked on the piece for thirty minutes a day for the week, so here is where I got to after the three and a half hours this week:

Not bad, if you ask me! I'm also going to be working on this piece for this next week as my Whine and WIPs piece, so I'll be working on it an hour a day for the next week. I'm excited to see how far I can get this week!

I've also worked on my Whine and WIP piece for Stitch Maynia for the last week too. I chose to work on my Skater's Village Tree Skirt by Dimensions.

This is where I started on the piece this past week:

And here is where I got to after an hour a day for the last week:

I'm really happy with the progress. This hour a day thing is working out really well for me!

After working on those two pieces, I picked up Rainbow Parfait from Glendon Place.

Here is where I got to yesterday:

I'm doing this on 32 Lugana in Mesa from Picture This Plus using the called for Dinky Dyes silks. I'm enjoying this piece a lot!

Until next time!
