European Bistro and A Little Shopping

So I decided to take the plunge and begin European Bistro today! This has been an odd return to cross-stitching for me. I swore I would never, and I mean never, have more than one project going at once after I completed the five projects I worked on feverishly as gifts for my wedding party, mother and mother-in-law when I got married...but I think now that I'm stitching for me, I am more comfortable with stopping one project and picking up another, knowing I will return to the one I'm working on and it won't fall by the wayside.

So here is European Bistro as of today! Not much, but it's a start! And I've already discovered that there are a TON of half stitches in this project, which I don't mind...it makes me feel like I get more accomplished as I tend to do half stitches faster.

European Bistro - Started 8/4/12

I also went shopping with my daughter today before we went to Build-A-Bear with her troop. I had to stop by the craft store to pick up some threads and fabric for my birdhouse project (I'll share more tomorrow, hopefully!), but while we were in the cross-stitch section, she honed in on two very basic "My First Stitch" projects from Bucilla. She has been fascinated by my stitching lately and she nearly begged me to get these for her and teach her how to stitch...how can I resist that? Now, she is only six, and these may be a bit much for her, but I'm willing to work with her to help teach her how to cross-stitch...you can never start too young!
My Daughter's First Projects? Time Will Tell!

I also picked up Fairy Enchantment by Joan Elliott while I was there! I stumbled across Joan Elliott's website while I was surfing blogs not too long ago and fell in love with her work! This book has 9 of her designs that are just beautiful that I can't wait to get my hands on! I also picked up the July issue (#254) of Cross Stitcher Magazine...more great ideas there that I can't wait to start!

I think it's official...I'm starting to eagerly look for ways to build my stash...but I do have plans to use what I'm collecting, truly...I'm making plans for future projects that I'll post more about when the time is right...

I hope you had as wonderfully stitchy a day as I did!

Until next time!
